My first reaction... are the holes enough to let dirt get under it. I guess it filters it also. Just scanned it on my fb feed.

I agree, it doesn't look like it would be as effective in letting the dirt get through.

The idea is that dirt drops down and gets trapped. The CG "guard" with minimal holes would likely do the opposite. Are you sure it is a grit guard equivalent? Too lazy to google about it.

The only difference I can see is underneath. I guess the "filter" helps capture the dirt particles.
