    FLEX backing plates

The new FLEX backing plates will be available in January. They will come in a kit as all three parts. The gear plate, the 4" plate and the 6" plate.

Good news! Thanks for the update Eric!

On the left is the 6" backing plate, center is the 4" backing plate and on the right is the interface plate that enables you to switch between either the 6" or the 4" backing plate.

Here's a view of the other side so you can see the ribs for strength, the plate itself is very rigid and this is part of the design that does away with the felt ring.

The protruding tabs lock into the slots on the interface plate and then both are bolted to the spindle.

The 4" backing plate is awesome for working on thin panels or tight areas...

    Re: FLEX backing plates

The 6" plate is slightly larger than the factory FLEX plate, correct?

Correct. The factory plate is 5.5". This is 6", so on a pad with the loop cut-back, it self centers.

Thanks for the update Eric! I can't wait for these.

Are the 4" BPs going to be slightly smaller than 4" to have some margin of error for the 4" pads?
