    100Degrees & "New" Optimum Product's (Lot's O' Pic's)

My friend Chris @ Optimum sent me some new Optimum Compound and Polish formula's to test and review:

Well today I started a detail(paint correction/protection) on a 2000' Buick LeSabre Custom.I thought today would be a good day as any to give these new Optimum formula's a test and see how they performed with the temperatures being in the 100's:

I pulled the Buick outside to get some sun shot's showing the defect's.With the vehicle's color being Bronze,it was a little hard to see the defect's BUT they were there:

On into the garage.I didn't want to add more heat lighting up the halogen's in this 100deg. weather,so I decided to use my LED's.These are great alternative when the weather gets this hot out. They do a very good job at showing me what needs to be corrected and where I'm at with progress:

Before starting to correct the defect's,I washed the vehicle with ONR and proceeded to clay. This is just from a section of the hood:

For the correction process,I'll be using my FlexPE and my favorite Constant Pressure buffing pads. That hopefully AG will be offering soon:

I could see some deeper defects in the paint,so I did a test spot with the Optimum PolishII.The PII didn't give me the initial result's I was looking for,so I moved on to the CompoundII and a Orange CPP.I worked a section with the FlexPE on setting4(1500rpm's).This is after 5-6 section passes. The CompoundII produced NO DUST:

I then proceeded with a white CPP and the PolishII.Again working with the FlexPE on setting4 and made 5-6 section passes.Yup,NO DUSTING:

After the PolishII,I moved to a Black CPP and the Finish Polish. This time I turned the FlexPE down to setting3(1200rpm's) and worked it 5-6 section passes. You guessed it,NO DUSTING:

For my final wipe down,I used Optimum Power Clean(3:1) and had a rinse bucket to remove any PowerClean residue.

I seen a couple of deeper scratches that had to be gone over again. So back to the CompoundII,PolishII,and finally the Finish Polish. Now that looks better:

    Extreme close-up's:

One more final wipe with PowerClean and a good rinsing of any PowerClean residue,I put a layer of Optimum Car Wax on the hood:

Now it's time to pull the vehicle outside to check the defect correction under the sunlight:

Sorry, this one did not focus properly:

    And the money shot:

I would have to say,I'm Impressed with how these (3) new Optimum formula's performed, especially in 100deg. weather. The work times are nice and long, excellent correction, and finish down awesome. And one other benefit from these Optimum Compounds/Polishes-NO DUSTING

I would like to Thank Chris from Optimum for letting me sample these new formula's and to all AG forum members for looking

Now,out to the garage to sweat some more

I am glad there has been a review with some results. How about doing again with a DA...please!

Great review, and thanks for the time! May sound like a dumb question, but how would you compare the cut of the compound to that of M105? Thanks.

Your kiddin, right? I'm going to be sweating my Ky-yowns off just trying to finish the rest of the vehicle. The DA would take me that much longer and would loose half my body weight from sweating lol.

I think 105 does cut better than the CompoundII but i'll trade a lil less cut with NO dusting.

Thank you for an excellent review. I'm glad you enjoyed using them...but, I feel your pain about the temps. I did two full details by myself today and finished at 8pm. I had to have sweat enough to mix up some ONR.

    Thanks for the write up!

If you have used Optimum Hyper Polish, would you say the work time and ease of removal is the same for these new compounds/polishes is the same?

I only tried these "New" formula's on this one car so far,so it's hard to tell because the OHC/OHS finish down differently on softer/harder clear coats BUT so far they seem to be similar.
