Yes, when fully cured Opti Coat is harder than factory clear. This doesn't mean you can neglect good habits, but it will definitely help with softer paints.

Inside a standard garage is fine. The layer applied is much thinner than HVLP sprayed OEM clear so there's not much chance of "locking in dust." Basically, anywhere you can apply a wax or sealant, you can apply Opti Coat 2.0.

One unit contains 20ml/cc...that's double what you should need to coat a mid sized car (including wheel faces and trim).

Each syringe contains 20ml/cc so that if you have a larger vehicle or are heavy handed during your first application, you will still have enough to finish. Most will apply it to thick the first time or so, but with practice you can do an entire mid sized car with 8-10ml/cc.

Mark, it is wipe on-walk away, but care should be taken within the first hour or so to check for any spots that have not flashed completely and buff them lightly with a soft paint safe microfiber.

With all of that said, you should have the paint prepped by a professional to your satisfaction before applying. Opti Coat 2.0 is a permanent paint film that requires polishing/compounding to remove and contains NO fillers that will hide swirls. I would also like to add that I personally just use the applicator to fix thick areas. You may certainly use a towel, but you need to wash it/soak it soon after to remove the Opti Coat 2.0.

So the primary question I have is, what advantages does Opti-Guard have over Opti-Coat 2.0? Is the cure time the only notable difference?

Warranty? Now that sounds interesting... I'll be keeping my ears open for details on this.
