Detailed my bike but I have questions

I spent a couple of days on it.
I washed it with Meguiar's Ultimate Wash, Sprayed IronX all over the bike, Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay, Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 with orange pad 5.5", Meguiar's Ultimate Polish with white pad, and Meguiar's NXT Tech 2.0 liquid wax and blue pad. After doing all this I found out there are alot more bad scratches than I realized I don't mean swirls but deep stuff. Oh well. I am pretty satisfied with the paint part but its the other details I was getting killed on.

I need suggestions on what I can clean the rubber and plastic/vinyl with. I also want some sort of protectant that I can use on the seat and floor boards that will not be slick.

I used Optimum Metal Polish on the chrome and shift/brake levers and it worked great! It really shined on the levers and shifter, I was impressed. Now with that said do you guys suggest some kind of polisher I can use to get some reach and also reduce buffing time. I am thinking of something like Wool Ball or Flitz Balls I used my 5.5" pads for some of the chrome but that isn't the best option because of sling.

I have a PC 7424 XP and I just got a 3" backing plate for it. I used the 5" for most of the polishing work but I soon found out it will sling product all over the place since it is to big for some surfaces.

I also found out how bad I need those Daytona Speed Brushes. Getting to those wheels and in parts around the engine would have been way easier with it. Any suggestions on a wheel cleaner and protectant?

I guess in short I am looking for ways to make my next detailing of my bike go faster and still get great results. I am considering putting some Opti-coat 2.0 on one day. I'm probably at 80% satisfied so I want to finish up a few more things

BTW the bike is a 2010 Victory Cross Roads.

I use S100 Special Surface Cleaner on my plastics and rubber.

For the wheels I use Flitz Polish.

Look into Optimum Power Clean for your rubber and plastic/vinyl. It's a very versatile product that can safely be used on everything from paint, engines and even delicate surfaces like leather. I consider this one of the most valuable products I have and I'm sure you will be impressed as well.

The Meguiar's Dynacone also work very well for those tight spaces.

I'd go with a quality Vinyl Cleaner and CarPro CQuartz Fabric and Leather Coating. Just be sure to park the vehicle in the sun or use a heat gun (with caution) to dry the coating. Here's a pic from TrKent (Dream Detail) used CarPro CQuartz Fabric and Leather Coating as his protectant.

The LC Wool Ball is pretty aggressive and works great on neglected metal, but I wouldn't finish with it. I wrote a review on that Wool Ball here: Lake Country Wool-Ball + S100 Corrosion Protectant Review

I would go with the Flitz Balls or the Meguiars Dynacone like esv5454 suggested. Just be sure to apply a protectant after polishing metal to keep it look good. Something like S100 Corrosion Protectant.

For a wheel cleaner, I use Wolfgangs Tire and Wheel Cleaner.


I like it because it's safe for motorcycle tires. So you can clean your wheels really well and not worry about any harsh chemicals damaging the tires. For a wheel protectant I've been using CQuartz DLux Plastic & Wheel Coating, although I'm itching to remove my wheels and apply Dodo Juice's Supernatural Nano Wheel Sealant. And yes, Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brushes are necessities for bike details.

Hey thanks for the replies everyone. I have added a few items to my "List". I am kinda holding out for the next BOGO to see if I can score a deal

The bad news is in my carelessness after taking my saddle bags off to clean them I forgot to tighten the bolts back down and this happened today,


Can't buff that out This is what happens when a person gets sidetracked. A very expensive mistake but it was all my fault. Yesterday I done this to my tank, its a big chip in the paint.
