New guy. New truck. Tinted clear. Lots of reading.
Was sent here from another forum. And have been reading for days trying to figure how to best approach my new vehicle. Will be ordering products soon. Still a long way to go.
Bought a 2013 ram in what they call black gold. From what paint shop has told me it's black paint with metallic gold in the clear. I love the color. But want to get a good base for maintenance and some small corrections. Plus a good protective coat. Montana roads are hard on a vehicle.
Have to wait till weather is better but doing the best I can for preventative now. Dealer put some swirls in it before I had chance to pick it up. But nothing looks too major for now. Picture is of the day I brought it home.

Thanks guys. Been doing some research. I need to start over. From the basics on. Buckets mitts. Etc.
Going with the porter cable and 5.5 and 3 pads
. I'm trying to decide what would be the best coating. I know I need something fairly good for harsh winters with road salt and mag chloride. I was thinking CQuartz. But in all my research it seems someone had a European version specifically for harsh winter conditions. Anyone have suggestions in that area.
It seems maintenance. Like anything else. Is the key to a good coating.

Welcome and be careful, this place is a slippery slope. I stumbled in just trying to figure out what kind of wax would last on my car and now I clean something on my car or my wife's car every day and can't stop buying stuff.
I've had a lot of success thus far with the Wolfgang Paint Sealant which isn't a coating but water is still beading ridiculously well after a month and 1000 rough miles.
