My first intro post.. From Oregon
Well I'll start of with this, I'm probably a member on a good many dozen forums and this is my first intro post ever. That's how much I care about you guys.
My dad has been a mechanic his whole life, hence why I love cars. I always liked cars and had a dream of owning a Plum Crazy Challenger some day. But it wasn't until the summer of 2011 that I really fell in love. I went out and bought a 1986 CRX in horrible, and do not take that lightly.. Piece of crap car. Long story short the ball joint on the passenger side broke and once it was in my dads shop there was no stopping me. We painted it, redid the whole interior, upgraded suspension, etc. If you want to take a look google "project plum crazy crx"
I fell in love with that car, dropped every cent on it. Washed her at least once a week even during the winter. And yes, I'm still the owner.
I thought I knew how to clean a car until I found AG, and wow was I wrong. And now I've been following the forum for probably a good 8 months or so, just never felt the need to introduce myself with all the info that's already here. In February I started hating my minimum wage job at Chevron and decided I wanted to make money doing something I love so I came up with a business name and bought some business cards. I've probably averaged 1-2 cars since I started but I think coming into the summer months, what is limiting me is my availability. I still work at the gas station 4 days a week. But I'm scared to quit that job without knowing that I will have enough business to pay all the bills. Anyone out there who has some valuable advice on this? Whats the best way to get a consistent 5+ customers a week when you're starting out? I probably get 5-10 people contacting me each week but have lots of problems with people never showing up.
I don't have a huge arsenal yet, mostly just rookie tools. Hope to be getting an aztec hotrod or mytee, a pressure washer, and a rotary buffer here in the next month so that shouldn't be a problem. I don't have a good location at the moment so 90% of my business is/will be mobile. I could keep writing all day but that's probably a good amount for you to read haha. Glad to be here and excited to see what is to come. Oh yeah, and my name is Ryan.

Welcome Ryan to AGO!
I think most of us had that same feeling when we learned that everything we have been doing was absolutely wrong. I know I did but thats the great thing about places like AGO, you research, read, watch, and then execute! Have fun and don't ever hesitate to ask questions. This is the friendliest forum you will ever find.

Hi Ryan,
Welcome to AutogeekOnline!
I lived most of my life in Albany, about 4-5 years in Cottage Grove, (logging town), and Seaside, Oregon.
I miss everything but the rain...

lol i think we all could do without the rain up here.
Welcome to the forum Ryan, I run a mobile service out of Vancouver, WA so I don't think I'm too far from you... Been on this for about 8 months now too, and I gotta say there's no place you'll get better info and feedback. Enjoy!

That's awesome to hear Mike, I grew up in Stayton and just moved to Salem last fall. I think we're getting an early summer this year
