Thank you guys for a great site to learn from. I found yall looking for a way to bring some life into my 1987 Ford Ranger. Most of you would be ashamed to drive it the way it is but its my baby. There are many (thousands?) chips, scratches and missing paint. I am not going for show but rather make what paint it there look better. Lots of perment water spots and etching? if that is what you call it.
I don't have a DA yet but plan on one in the future. I just started on the hood with Meg's Ultimate Compound and have the hood about half way done (at least good enough for me). I started with Meg's #7 first then Ultimate Compound and applying it with walmart terry applicators.
Here is a pic of what I am working with but it really don't show the paints condition that well. If you look close at the top of door you can see some paint missing where the drivers arm always set on it. Its rougher than you can see in the pic.
