    New(ish) member from the (MI)tten

    Greetings from Kalamazoo, MI!

My name is Brandon and I have been detailing since I was 16 (29 now).

I've been a long-time on-looker and sponge of all things AGO. Videos, articles, etc. Figured it's time to say, "HI."

Been running rotary buffers (Makita 9227, 9237c and dewalt 849, 849x) in both body shop and detail environments on and off my entire detailing career. I've used 3M products at most places, with a hodgepodge of (cough cough....automagic), Presta and Malco products. My personal compound/polish arsenal contains 3D, Wolfgang, Meguiars, and Blackfire products, and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt, these products blow the other stuff (besides some 3M products) OUT OF THE WATER!

I just entered the "DA" world in 2015, with the addition of a 6" GG6, and recently a Flex 3401. My most recent purchase is a PE-14-2. This thing is unbelievable compared to the "full size" units I was use to. Quiet, cool, quiet, ergonomic, quiet, and QUIET...shh...Now I'm yelling. As far as rotaries go (personal preference from least, to most favorite): Dewalt 849->Dewalt 849x->Makita 9227->Makita 9237c->Flex PE-14-2. Currently "team Flex" for me, but I'd like to add a long throw (Italy vs. Germany) in the future.

I've recently in the process of starting my own detailing and paint correction business in the SW MI area.

Thanks to all the contributors on this forum for making AGO the place it is! (Double thumbs up!)

No relation that I know of. I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, and most my extended family lives around Kzoo, GR and Holland! Small world nevertheless!

For me, the DAs are predominately used for finishing work, or "2nd" stage swirl removal after compounding with the PE14. Rotary polishers (especially the PE) are soooo smooth. Never used a long throw, but I can't imagine it being as smooth! One is on the short list though! The beautiful thing about the 3401 is that if I miss a spot with my PE14, ramp that sucker up to 5.5-6, orange hybrid pad and WHAM- defect killer. I usually 3401 polish at speed 3.5.
