Spray application provides a very efficient way to prime the pad with minimal amount of product. This makes the whole pad do the polishing not just a small area on the pad.
Spray application minimizes the chance for overloading or gumming up the pad. Also there is less chance for uneven application which can cause the pad to wobble.
These products have better cut and finish than just about anything in the marketplace. But they still have the signature attributes of Optimum brand which are:
- User friendly
- Very long working time (which translates to less product used)
- No dusting
- No sling
- Easy clean up (even if you leave it for a day)
- Can be used in the sun or shade
Now the story behind the story...
The polish was developed as part of a project for one of the
major car manufacturers to be used at the
manufacturing plant. Their process is to wet sand with a 1" disc of Trizact #3000 paper and then polish with a 3" or 5" foam pad.
The conventional polishes they were using did not fully remove sanding marks. Furthermore, the dry areas of the pad created some hazing which was visible under intense lighting.
We were able to develop a polish for them that fully removed the sanding marks but to prevent dry buffing and hazing, the only way was to fully prime the pad without gumming up the pad. To achieve that, we had to switch to a spray application.
After a couple of months, we developed a spray polish, which was able to prime the pad with minimal product and was aggressive enough to remove the wet sanding marks without leaving any hazing. This product was approved for plant use and we have had great success with plant trials so far.
