Video: UPDATE on the tire dressing challenge. How long did they last?
Hi guys,
A quick video update on the tire dressing challenge video. The dressings were put to the test for about 2 weeks without washing the vehicle. The SUV was left outside all day and all night during those two weeks and you'll find out which were the best performers.
Enjoy!

That is quite a lot of browning from the solvent based ones already.

What product did you use to strip the tires before applying these dressings?

That's a good question Bobby. From what I understand, Lacquer thinner cleaning of the tire makes dressing last a very long time. I wonder if that is true or just hype. I should give a try cleaning with various products (Megs Super degreaser, Super clean, Pine Sol and Lacquer thinner) then apply the same dressing on each wheels and see if there is a difference in durability...

I got over one year with my Trans Am using Poorboy’s Bold n’ Bright tire gel.
Even survived one of the harshest Wisconsin winters (2017-18) on record.
Does it matter that I only drove 100 miles and never drove in the rain during the year

On a serious note I massage Bold and Bright into the tire. I like the look of Bold and Bright gel. After buffing it off it looks like a new off the rack tire. My Trans Am is rolling on 20 year old original Goodyears and they look brand new with Bold and Bright.

Did you watch part 1? I talked about the prep. I used Super Clean diluted 1:3 to degrease the tires (multiple passes until the foam became white, brushing with my TUFF SHINE tire brush) and then dried the tires before applying the dressings to each tire. I always like a freshly prepped surface before applying a dressing, it maximizes bonding and durability.
