i was speechless today, i call the day off due the weather and went with a client to replace his watch... few minutes later ... a gift $3200 watch Raymond Weil Freelancer





anyway.. about the business, i may have chance to work on a planes and helicopters, but i may have to do some homework before. also pricing tooo ...the plane is cessna citation X and is huge, is easy 4-5 suv`s as a size all together.
so far is been steady busy for 2 people ( me and 1 assistant). i plan end the year with 3 and next year an workshop would be nice....

I spoke with a dent repair specialist about his business, briefly, when I hired him to remove a dent in my car. In this brief conversation he brought up a concern that is very applicable to detailing business owners. As the owner of your company, how do you prevent your employees from learning all your skills and venturing out on their own, and possibly stealing some of your clients?

You could keep them from doing any paint work and simple be your assistant, but they can watch. DA polishers have changed this industry so much, for someone that works as your assistant, the skill of polishing could easily be picked up. They know exactly which products to use because they see you use it.

This question is directed to Cosmin, but not excluding all the other detail business owners.

Will, I guess because being able to detail a car does not make you a successful auto detailing business owner. That is an inherent risk most services providers take when teaching their trade to others.

i have an non compete and confidential agreement.
my clientele is very narrow, so even if they will go on their own they will not be my competition, they may end up working on other type of cars.
it takes a lot of hard work , skills and business to get successful in this business.
as far as i am positive and optimist i will always have an ace in my hand....

a quick example , if i feel that he steps on my toes. i can hire one more guy and sell 20% off and put him on a bench
so.. are always options , just see the big picture.

* Update

close to 4 Years in april since i start , and here is my last update...
a long journey with a lot of hard work and long hours, i start with few detailing bottles and a buffer , packed into a sedan trunk for 2 years.
now i run with 2 vans , one employee and plan for second one .
what ever i did and what i post in the beginning of this thread it works and it keeps giving me results
i finish 2013 with 45% increase in sales compared with 2012, that puts me in 6fig sales and an goal is 120k-150k for this year. i may have to market a bit more aggressive this year so i can expand the business and rich my goals.
