I respectfully disagree. I have used 845 on my own vehicles after polishing and not performing any kind of IPA/similar wipe down, and have not experienced decreased durability. IIRC even Mike Phillips has jokingly stated that he has never walked into a garage to find that a coat of freshly applied wax/sealant had run off of the car and onto the floor due to not bonding with the paint because it wasn't prepped beforehand.

Not a pro here but consumer. Wouldn't you want to charge extra based on the size of the vehicle? With Wax (presumably applied using DA?) included in the single crown package, $60 seems low for any size vehicle.

Unless the manufacturer requires chemically stripped paint, then a wipe down is unnecessary.

With some products, it will even hinder bonding.

Re: Review of Packages and Pricing

Considering polishes contain oils, there is no way a scellant will bind correctly if you don't remove it. Also, it's pretty much impossible to know how long a scellant stays on the paint unless you do an exaustive test with a side by side on the same pannel. How would you know that your scellant that lasts x amount of time would not last far longer if the pannel was prepped?

As a finial note, doing an IPA, Eracer or grease and wax remover step is very quick and very cheap. Why would you skip a step that will take you maybe 5 or 10 minutes for the whole vehicle and ensure proper bonding of the scellant?

If you don't want to do it, fine, there is no law against putting a scellant or wax over a polished pannel. But don't assume the product will bind just as well, because it will not.

I assume you tested this out? How much more did the sealant last with IPA as against without IPA?

Re: Review of Packages and Pricing

id say your prices are low at least from my stand point, after taxes and overhead your hrly rate looks to be nothing you can live off of. I shoot for $60 an hr but depending on the job will go down to $40 the lowest. its all very dependent on your area and what people can afford but don't give away your services and if you have to adjust your package to make up for time.

for example I have a paint only package where I only do paint enhancement and that's it. I don't open the doors, I don't touch the windows (I normally do them anyways) no wheel cleaning or tire dressing, its a quick 2-4 pass max of HD speed and I'm done. I know how long it takes me and I charge accordingly. they know up front what they are getting and there are no surprises but even this takes me the time it takes you to do 4x more work.

    My 2 cents:

    1) single crown
Simple wash and interior wipe down

    2) double crown
Wash and wax with interior wipe down

    3) triple crown
Wash, clay, one step cleaner wax with interior wipe down

Then add miscellaneous services like interior detailing and glass polishing and headlight restoration..

With your target market, i think this will work. Then just branch out or expand depending on what happens.

I believe in keeping things simple that i overcomplicate them Review of Packages and Pricing

Re: Review of Packages and Pricing

I appreciate you taking the time to do that for me. I really like how that layout works, I was debating whether to do separate int and ext details like some other detailers in the area, but being slightly different with package offers may be beneficial.
