These guys vary in price I don't think there is a price structure. One guy charges 40 per dent the other is 250 per dent without complexity. Shop around is your best bet.

I'm thinking of getting into doing it but would like to know how much I should charge and how profitable it is.

Flat pays! so you have to be good at it.
takes couple months up to 6 of practice only. also a good eye -hand coordination. i did the training but i didn`t have time for practice plus i have a guy who i work with in case i need anything fixed.
initial investment 5-10k , and about how much to charge , an hailed car is around 3-5k to fix it. dents are quoted based if are on edges , size , material (al/fe) , access, deep, crease etc
the sale point is where the client get`s the cold shower at the body shop where repaint is 700$ for the panel (an example ) , and you quote him 350-400 for a dent that takes you 1-2hours....
with dealer accounts, you charge a flat fee per panel , ex 100$ a panel , but they keep you busy and some dents can take 10-20min
if you have the call for it , is an art and you can get a good 200k a year , some technicians are chasing hail storms and work with insurance company
