Detailing Insurance
Hello everyone. I'm having trouble finding a company to give me liability insurance. Wondering if anyone has had the same issue? Or if you do have insurance, you can help me out with the name? Etc? I really want to get covered asap. Thanks in advance!

Other than trying GEICO, I'm sorry I can't give any advice here. However, what kind of trouble are you having? That might help those "in the know"...

Look for local small business insurance companies and describe nature of your work. Off top of my head I've heard State Farm, Bolt, Safeco & Auto Owners do offer it.

I am currently in the process of getting an insurance quote. I use Travelers insurance so check them out. You may also try Desert Shores Insurance.

Re: Detailing Insurance
Just understand the insurance you do get will not cover workmanship. Meaning if you make the mistake of burning someone's paint it will still be on you. Ask very specific questions when shopping for insurance.

Re: Detailing Insurance
I heard the same thing. They won't cover mistakes you make. So basically the insurance is for things like burning down the customer's house or something like that. So I am very careful not to start fires when I detail my customer's cars

With vBulletin, (that's the software that is this forum), you can search the entire forum or you can search a forum group.
You posted in a "forum group" called,
How to make money detailing cars Garage Detailing Advice
Look around to the upper right hand side of any forum group and you'll see the words,
Search Forum
And you can use this to search JUST the group you're in.
I just did this for you using the search term insurance and there's just a few of the threads I came up with and I know there's some GREAT information in them if you do a little clicking and reading.

Also, there's a IDA Webinar coming up and the topic is insurance, I'm not sure the date but when it's hammered down I'll share it on this forum and my FB page.

Re: Detailing Insurance
I had general liability and garage keepers policies through Statefarm and then through Country Financial. I simply called my agent and asked them to help me... was never a big deal.
As previously mentioned, be sure you fully understand what your insurance will and will not cover. It seems people falsely believe that a general liability policy will cover your mistake if you scratch someone's car or burn through someone's paint. That is not the case. There may be some sort of policy that does that... I really am no expert... but I spent a good amount of time with the commercial insurance expert who ultimately wrote my policy making sure I knew what I was paying for.
