Never heard that, ever
Why would it.be OK for "auto body work" to remove a pinstripe, but not for a hobbyist to remove a pinstripe
I am confused, please tell us more

Re: Help removing and old pinstripe
Clay will do Zero to a pinstripe, regardless of if it is painted on or vinyl

Re: Help removing and old pinstripe
The 3M wheel works fine as does a plastic razor and a heat gun/hair dryer. Be sure to follow up with some adhesive remover to remove any left over glue. Then hit the area with a little polish and wax and you are done.

I've always used an eraser wheel.
