Re: How to use the Dr. ColorChip Paint Chip Repair Systems
First post, so here goes.
Is the only thing that is special about Dr. Colorchip the solution? I just purchased some touch up paint from another company. It has rubbing compound to use after you touch up, but nothing like paint leveling. Would it be worth it to purchase their solution or just use the rubbing compound I have?

I don't know that the SealAct would work with another companies touch-up paint.
I bought the kit with the 4oz SealAct, and just buy the smallst touch up bottles ($28) for other vehicles. The SealAct lasts a LONG time.

I cant imagine they do anything special with their paint, but I could be wrong. I know a few other companies have the leveling solution as well, and one you have to buy your own touch up paint, so I guess I could go with them just to be sure,

Mike thank you for the write up.
Excellent review!!
Curious do you have a review or have tried the Langka chip repair system? I recently purchased the Langka kit from AGO as I am going to try to fix a key scratch on my buddies 2014 QX60. I fixed most except for the deep scratch. He is buying the touch up paint I will be repairing the scratch.
He does know it will not be 100% perfect but good enough.
If not no worries as he knows his ride will be the guinea pig in trying.

Sorry to say, I have not tested or used the Langka Rock Chip Repair system as of yet. But it is on the to-do list. Just need to find a car with some rock chips.

How long before you seal over Dr. Colorchip with Opticoat or another coating?

Re: How to use the Dr. ColorChip Paint Chip Repair Systems
OK, just finished using this system and I have to say I am very pleased with it.
I got the upgraded version (larger amount of touch-up paint and a squeegee) for my wife's car since hers is a 2007 and has several small chips and some paint etching on the side mirrors from bugs. I got the basic kit for my car (2011 with only a handful of small chips).
The system was very easy to use with the squeegee. I even used it on some scratches on my wife's car that she got from lowering the garage door on the rear end a few years ago.
The really small chips are for the most part gone. Yes, they are technically still there but it's almost impossible to see them even close up.
The etched mirrors look almost like they've been freshly painted. I can still see them up close, but they look probably 90% better then they did.
The deep scratches on her rear end (the CAR) are still visible up close, but at least they are body colored now and look pretty good from a few feet away.
On my car, I only had a dozen or so very small chips and they covered great.
The larger chips on both of our cars (the larger chips being about 3-5 mm) are visible up close, but disappear from a distance just as advertised.
My plan is to now wait about 4 weeks till I clay, polish, and sealant both cars to allow the paint enough time to cure.

I think Dr. ColorChip recommends the same thing most paint manufacturers recommend and that's 30 days but in my opinion and experience, it's going to be safe to go ahead and seal the paint after you're done with any touch-up work and paint polishing.

It's good to hear this system worked for you and thank you for sharing a very detailed post with your experience.
