Here's what I would recommend, get a quart of our Marine 31 Gel Coat Heavy-Cut Cleaner Wax.

Put a note in the comments section of your order to let Nick know you're getting this product upon my recommendation.

Thanks Mike. I read the part about the boat cleaner waxes but wasn't sure if it could be used for regular paint. I'll get some ordered and give it a shot. Pictures to follow.

Hi Mike, what a cool thread. I remember buying my Cyclo back in 1990 and using Meguiar's #6 and white pads for 98% of the jobs I got detailing as a kid. That Cyclo paid for itself time and time again. Recently joining this forum, I have a renewed interest in all the newer tools like my Flex 3401 and the newer products. I don't really do anyone's cars anymore and mine stay pretty clean so I still am predominantly a one step guy with some HD Speed. Back in the day as far as I knew my ultimate combo was #2, #9 and #26.

Generally speaking products intended for marine use are too aggressive for use on automotive clearcoats.

Now when we're talking about Tractors, Combines, etc. these types of farming equipment besides having single stage paint should have plenty of paint so a "quality" Marine one-step cleaner/wax would be a good way to go.

At my last 3-day Detailing Boot Camp Class we had the owner of a company in Ontario, Canada that details farm equipment.

I was working for Meguiar's as a Trainer when they rolled out the #2 and #9 combo for basecoat/clearcoat paints. Back then these were really the only two products in the body shop industry and the detailing industry that worked. That is they would make paint look great not scoured.

I called Meguiar's to ask about sealants/waxes.......... their customer service line people told me they're the same thing. I dunno, just saying what Meguiar's said.

Maybe Mike can weigh in on this one.

Well they are "kind of" right.

Waxes and sealants do the same thing, they SEAL the surface and provide a sacrificial barrier coating of protection.

The actual protection ingredients can vary but at the end of the day waxes and sealants as well as paint coatings all do the same job, they seal the surface.

I know the customer care reps at the Meguiar's hotline call center LOVE it when OCD detailers for the forum world call and ask deep questions...

    Mike,
What category would you place HD Speed into?

    Duragloss 105?

    PoorBoy's Polish w/sealant?
