Re: Quick DIY: Make your favorite spray bottle work upside down
Is this the correct location for something like this? I have a few written up that I can post that are probably more helpful than this. I'm all about saving a buck, or even doing something myself instead of paying for it to be done. But aren't we all, considering that this is a detailing forum. I suppose detailing is one big DIY anyway.

This is great! I've been brain storming ideas for sprayers that will work in multiple directions. This is by far the simplest solution for multi-use and practicality IMO.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the positive comments. I don't have any pictures but I did try it with a glass bead from one of my wife's craft kits and it worked very well. A .15 bead, much better than a $4 barb.

Thanks for a great solution to an annoying problem sometimes, csham! Basically, just have the take up part of the internal tube find the current level of solution in the bottle! I think i'll take my spray bottle that i most frequently use at weird angles (including upside down) and retrofit it to do this!
Brilliant and simple.

This concept is used in outdoor power equipment like chainsaws and trimmers where orientation changes but good example of how to do it during detailing.

Now that I think about it, it would be quite easy for the little tube to kink and not let any product out, if you don't get the right type of tube.
You want something flexible enough to bend 180 degrees, but without kinking.

Thanks! To keep cost down, if you can't find something that won't corrode as a weight, I did one that was with a plastic 1/8" hose barb that I got from my local hardware store for a buck. There's tons of stuff that will work, just be creative.
In response to kinking, I don't think it will be too big of an issue if you use 1/4" OD 1/8" ID (roughly) Latex tubing. I'm not hydro-engineer, but I think it's buoyant enough that it will float and not kink. I may be wrong but I've used this through two details and no issues yet. Lowes carries a larger variety (3/8") by the foot, but it's availability is limited. I found a 10' section for a few dollars at a local medical supply store and they sell it all over the internet.
You're looking for latex tubing, surgical tubing, sling shot tubing, etc. You'll find it when you're not looking- that's how it usually happens to me.
