    Absolutely! Thanks Mike, for sharing.

As a professional, whether a detailer or a salesman for XYZ Widgets, you are indeed that, ... a salesman. You are trying to understand your customers' wants and needs, while trying to see if your service will benefit them. Your service or product is not always going to be the best fit for the customer, and some customers might not always be good for your business.

Did he sell the black Corvette and get a silver one?

I don't know to be honest. He didn't like my answers. He let me know he was retired a few times and in his mind that meant he wasn't working including washing his own car.

One of our forum members re-designed their detailing business website and for their services page, under the Package 4 after describing their show car detailing package in gold or yellow colored text there was a note stating something to the effect that they would not offer this package unless the customer understood that afterwards the car would have to be carefully hand washed or some such.

Point being, clear coats are scratch sensitive and after a pro buffs out a car from that day forward anything that "touches" the paint needs to be of the highest quality the owner can obtain and good technique, well-thought-out technique must be used when touching the car or it will simply become filled with swirls and scratches again.

That's why every detailer needs to start by evaluating the customer, not the car and understand that there are some people you shouldn't work for.

I have a section in Renny Doyle's book that talks about the art of turning down customers or cherry picking. It's all about this idea.

Hey Mike, great write up on the new Stingray detail.

I have an interior question for you. My new Stingray is Arctic white with the Adrenaline Red interior. Which interior product would you recommend for starting out right protecting and cleaning this red leather?

I have red leather in my Mustang GT that started smearing red color onto my towel when putting conditioner on it and I don't want that to happen to my new Stingray interior.

Thanks in advance. I really enjoy your articles and tips on detailing.

Sorry I just now found this...

If it were my brand new Stingray, I would start right now by putting on the same product I put on my wife's car's interior and that's the Black Label Leather & Vinyl Coating.

    Love this stuff...

Posted this on Saturday.... it was my weekend detailing project....

    How's my water beading?

After washing the MB I then did a full interior detail starting by wiping down all the rubber, vinyl, plastic and leather surfaces with the Black Label Hide-Soft Leather Cleaner, (can be used on rubber, vinyl and plastic), and then rubbed everything down with the Leather & Vinyl Coating.

    Good stuff...

And that's how you're new Mustang is going to look after we warm it over with the PBL Coating.
