How To use Nanoskin Autoscrub Pads on Makita BO6040







Step 1: Center and attach the 4" Nanoskin Autoscrub pads to the backing plates on the Makita BO6040

Step 2: Spray panel down liberally using Nanoskin Glide Instant Detail Spray Lubricant

Step 3: Set speed to the 2-3 setting and then place Nanoskin Autoscrub pad against panel and move polisher over paint using medium arm speed with overlapping passes.




Set speed to the 2 to 3 setting...



Spray Nanosking Glide onto panel...






With the Makita BO6040 you can use it in either the Forced Orbital Rotation Mode, (arrow on switch pointing forward), or the Free Spinning Random Orbital Rotation Mode, (Arrow on switch pointing to the back of the tool), it works well either way.





Keep the pad flat to the surface and use a medium arm speed to move the Makita BO6040 over the surface

Not sure why? Doesn't have a strong following yet like other tools. The Flex is a better design in my opinion for a paint polisher. Easier to hold and work paint due to length of tool and ergo design.

It looks like a traditional D/A on steriods. Another thing, looks like you are stuck with just the one 6" plate.

I think the new rubberized polymer decontaminating tools, (towels, pads and blocks), can be more effective than clay, at least when I do the baggie test after using one of these alternatives the paint always seems to feel a lot cleaner/smoother.

Recently I found clay to be a better alternative for getting into tight areas or for claying things like louvers, grill vents, ornaments, etc.

So I think the old saying comes into play.

It's good to have access to multiple tools and then choose and use the appropriate tool for the job.

Somewhere on the forum I recently commented about the ergonomics of the BO6040 as compared to the ergonomics of the Flex 3401. Some good info...

It certainly wouldn't hurt but it's a time killer. To date I'm just wiping the paint clean after decontaminating a panel and doing a good job so there's no risk of any particulates getting into any machine polishing process.

If time is not an issue the a quick wash/rinse/dry is never a bad thing, except for the time thingy...
