Basically cooler than 84 degrees they stay laid down and will be considerably less active when it's too far above 84. They are usually less at the coast and in urban areas. Plan trips accordingly and you avoid quite a bit of them.

They are worse in areas planted with Bahia grass, so most medians on Interstates and other expressway roads. Built up areas have mostly concrete medians, so less lovely love bugs.

Bucket of water and a fabric softener sheet removes them effortlessly. Been doing that for years here in Fla.

Do the fabric softener sheets mar the paint? I’d be too scared to try them
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

Not moving again so I won’t need another carrier. I’m done after that big and tough move! But I would recommend Intercity any time.

We get love bugs in South Georgia too. I’m about 90 miles from the Florida line. The best defense is a good offense. I keep the front end of my cars coated with a good name brand coating and refresh it regularly with a good topper and the love bugs come off easily with a high pressure wash or just high pressure from the hose. Just reapply your topper frequently as I have seen many cars with the paint etched off from the little buggers.

Re: Love Bug Tip - Rent a car - avoid the bugs
Question: if my car has been detailed just a week ago, is summer, and every time i use it i get some bugs in my front bumper and mirrors, it is better to (choose an option):
1) leave the car with bugs and rinse every 2/3 days to clean bugs, then dry
2) rinse the car without drying it taking the risk of water spots
3) rinse the car and dry it, taking the risk of swirls because hasn't been a full washing cycle
4) every time spray water just on the bugs, wait 10 min, and remove gently with microfiber towel (i noticed water+wait will soften them incredibly)
I mean, i can't go double bucket every time i use it, what's the best method?
Thanks!
PS: it has just Collinite 845 on it and it's white

Re: Love Bug Tip - Rent a car - avoid the bugs
I live in love bug country and feel the pain. I keep two 5 gallon buckets in the garage. Both have gama seal lids on them. One has three gallons of distilled water mixed with Ultima WW, the other is empty. I have about 20 small 1ft square mf towels that soak in the solution bucket.
Each evening, I spray the bugs with Ultima QD mixed from the same concentrate and let he bugs soak for about 5 mins. I then wipe them with a towel from the solution. Next I take a clean towel out of the solution bucket and wring it out to use as a drying towel. The towels are then discarded to the empty bucket until it's full and the towels are ready to be washed. If you have a good coating or sealant on the car, this takes less than five minutes.
