Gyeon Mohs and Vinyl Stripes/Wraps
I'm currently prepping my Dodge Challenger for an application of Gyeon Mohs. I also want to add the "Bumble Bee" vinyl stripe in the rear, and possibly wrap the hood in flat black vinyl (down the line).
Which is the better option:
1. Apply vinyl stripe first and then Mohs.
2. Apply Mohs first and then the vinyl.
Does anyone have any experience with the coating over flat vinyl? Is this OK to do and does it effect the flatness?
Appreciate any insight.

Vinyl Stripes first.
(Then Gyeon's matte products)

I say that Gyeon Mohs will effect
the vinyl's flat matte appearance.
I base this on the fact that Gyeon
also has matte-specific products.

Thanks for the replies! Vinyl first seems logical.
I was not aware of Gyeon's matte products so that's good to know.
Is there any issue, however, with putting vinyl wrap over a coating? I will do the tail stripe before the Mohs, but may hold off on the hood wrap for a few months.

I'd just follow your particular vinyl
wrap's installation directions on how
the surface, that it's going on, is to
be prepped prior to the install.

Does this mean you're not going
to use matte-specific products on
the vinyl stripes?

I would actually suggest you put mohs on first, then out on the vinyl after its cured and then putting matte paint coating on the vinyl stripes after. The reason is if you ever need to remove it later on to put on new ones, it'll make your job a lot easier.

IMO:
•The "principles of adhesion" needs
to be considered when applying vinyl
graphics to a surface.
-You need adhesives to "flow across/wet"
the surface in order to have the best, let's
call it: sticking characteristics. That's best
achieved on a surface having high energy.
-Hard to have an adhesive that'll "wet"
a paint sealing product, like a Coating:
An example of low energy surfaces.

•Since vinyl's adhesives would not
be able to achieve the highest order
of stickiness, if it's applied to low
energy surfaces...then, I do agree
that the vinyl will be easier to remove
than if it was first applied to un-sealed
paint surfaces.
-Conceivably: It may even "work itself
loose" anytime along the way.

Hmm... something to think about.
I will definitely try the Gyeon matte coating on the stripes.
So maybe something in this order: Finish Polish - Vinyl Tail Stripes - Gyeon Mohs - Hood Wrap - Gyeon Matte Coating on hood and tail.
The tail strips I'd want to be more lasting. The hood wrap could go at anytime.
I'd also check with the installer to see what they have to say.
