Midwest Winters...salt
Am I crazy for parking my clean 09 Silverado for the winter to avoid salt? Right now it's my daily driver. How many of you park your "summer" vehicle?

No...not if you have an alternate vehicle that
you feel is safe for driving in whatever weather
conditions that Winter throws at it; and, where:
"It's going to get salt on it"...is not a deal-breaker.

No way, Jose. 365/7. Snow or no snow. Salt or no salt.

For those of us that don't have salt all winter...just an occasional snow, what do y'all use to clean/protect the undercarriage?

Doc,
This is where the 'car wash' come in handy. I use a 'brush-less' outfit that has a bottom washer, and that does a pretty good job of getting all the sand/salt outa and offa the under stuff.
I have to admit, keeping up with the winter s**t is a pain in the toosh, but anything helps keep the bad stuff controlled.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

To answer the OP's question: No, I don't park my car. I don't have the option of a spare vehicle, but at the same time I couldn't imagine doing that unless I had something really low slung like a Vette or a Cayman where clearance in the snow would be an issue, or a truly valuable classic that required preservation. Otherwise, I'll simply slap a set of winter tires on the car and keep driving.

I found a local touchless wash with this feature. It's really handy. If I can't use the under body spray, I simply go to a coin-op and use the wand to blast off the undercarriage and wheel wells.

I have two summer show cars that get parked long before the first snow. That just happens to be today, snow that is.
