    clear hood bra issues

    Hello to all,

Few years ago I have installed a clear bra on my bumper and hood. Last year is started to crack and I decided to remove it. I was in shock how it actually destroyed the paint on my car (black dots, white are a buffing compound). Right now there is a thin layer of plastic/foil still attached to a hood and it looks awful. I have tried to buff it out and heated with a hair dryer but that didn't work. Is there any safe way to remove it? it looks terrible and embarrassing.

    thank you for any advice

I installed it 5-6 years ago and removed last year. Sorry I do not remember who the manufacturer is...

Best way to remove PPF IMO is to use a Steamer and pull the material towards you as if you were stretching it. It will come off clean and completely that way not leaving any layers behind. Think of it like a giant 3M style picture hook when removing it and the adhesive. PPF's are made of multiple layers and it appears all you've done is cause it to delaminate from the adhesive layer thus removing only the upper layers.

when I removed the plastic I used a hair dryer, the problem is there is still very thin layer of plastic that I cannot remove. I tried to heat it more but it doesn't want to come off.

That's the adhesive and polyethylene layer. Try using a steamer such as the MC1385. Lift up a corner area, etc. and pull after hitting it with steam.
