G9 gets hot
Just used my G9 for the first time to do a spot correction on a MINI hood. I was surprised how warm it got quickly. Is this normal?

Re: G9 gets hot
It's normal for the tool to get pretty warm during extended use.
But it shouldn't be "hot".
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

It is a bit hard for me to tell as I have nerve damage in my hands (and everywhere else). It felt pretty warm/hot to me though in about two 2x2 section passes (one cross hatch being counted as one)

What speed are you running it at?

Re: G9 gets hot
Spread at 2 and run at 5.

How much pressure? Foam pad or microfiber?

Re: G9 gets hot
Not too much pressure* & foam pads. I was using the Griot’s foam pads that come with the 5” backing plate conversion kit.
* I’m strength compromised and there was no hint of pad stalling at all.
When asked about speed, is it not capable of running at higher speeds without heating up the tool?

Any mechanical machine that has moving parts will get warm, some even hot, during use. And the higher the speed, the higher the temperature... It's basic physics.
For your polisher, if you can hold it comfortably in your hands, without burning your hands, then what you are feeling is probably normal.

It sounds like it’s normal, foam pad, speed 5, no excessive downforce, it’s probably just the normal heat the machine will produce. Shouldn’t burn your hand but will feel warm for sure.

The G9 could get warm but nothing like the Flex 3401 with the metal shroud. For those of you who worked with one knows what I am talking about. LOL
I use a set of anti vibration gloves for all my polishers and I simply dont feel it anymore.
