Griots's GG3 speed dial- sloppy or tight?

Question to anyone who owns (or has owned) a current generation GG3: Was the speed dial "tight" or "loose" when clicked into a speed?

I ask because I just bought a GG3 (already have a GG6), and upon using my GG3, I noticed the speed dial on the GG3 feels very different from the dial on the GG6. The GG6 is very tight- when I select a speed, the dial has no play, it just clicks into the selected speed and stays there until I move the dial to another speed and it will firmly click into place again.

My new GG3, the dial will click into a speed, but then the dial is "sloppy" and has a lot of play both to the left and the right of the selected speed. It will click into any and all settings, and will operate fine in any setting, but the dial is much more loose with play in any given selected speed than the dial on my GG6.

Is the GG3 manufactured this way? Or do I have a defective unit? I have no other GG3 to compare it to, so I'm hoping to get some feedback here from folks that have that tool. Thanks for your help and info!

Thanks for the info. I'll have to get in touch with Griots and have this one repaired or swapped out, as there is a lot of play in the dial on this one. It felt really strange to me, which is why I wanted to double check before I contacted them.

And hey, you could could take a road trip to Tacoma, Washington where GriotsGarage main showroom is and deliver your GG3 in person

Mine is kinda pushed into the machine. I really don't use it anyway.

I've got substantial play in the dial of mine, too. Doesn't seem to affect functionality.

Reckon all you gotta do, is contact Griots, get an RMA #, pack it up, ship it out, and you'll be made whole.

I contacted Griot's, and they don't require an RMA#, just pack it up with the info they need, ship it to the returns center, and you're good to go!

I would love to check out their showroom in person... but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Someday maybe...

doesn't get any easier, at least with them. like i said many times before, they have no nonsense customer service that is courteous and quick/prompt/responsive. you buy something from them they will take care of you. can't say that for some companies...
