GG Boss 21 - washers/spacers - how many do you use?

I just purchased the G21 and two spacers/washers were included in the box. After inserting one washer the backing plate would still touch the shroud. The washers are very thin compared to a washer you would purchase at a hardware store.

If you have a G21 and use the washer mod, are you using 1 or 2 washers?

I had the same issue with my G21 and I pointed that out on my review. Their washers are extremely thin and flimsy.

Griot's recommended using 2-3 until the BP starts spinning freely. But why not just make a thicker washer... Anyway, I used 3 on mine.

Modify your shroud by cutting it slightly instead of the washer.

It came with 2 really thin washers so I used them both. It's been a yr and it's still holding up.
Probably get a thicker washer and grind them....

Where did yall get the extra washers? Mine came with 2 but it doesn't seem to help with pad stalling.

I disagree with everyone saying that 2 doesn't work... IME 2 is actually too much. Just look at what started to happen very quickly once I began using it with 2 washers. The center hub began warping.

This is the 2nd backing plate I had that happen to... The 1st one was even worse and I got it replaced. Now I don't even use any washers and I'm perfectly happy with the polishers performance + it runs much smoother this way. If I run into a situation where I need extra power I'll use 1 washer.

IMO 3-4 would be insane and would actually begin to risk the backing plate literally coming off while polishing.

    How many do you use?
