The "Dream Polisher"
Would be a forced rotation machine, on a PC style chassis... I love that style chassis, and I love forced rotation....
They probably won't do something like that, because it would just be redundant - but.... I'm just throwing it out there.

Ha! Well, we are dreaming, right?
What if it had the capabilities, and option of free spindle, AND standard rotary, in addition to the eccentric forced rotation!?!?

Re: The "Dream Polisher"
How about a quick release backing plate system; no tools required, and able to use 1", 3", and 5" plates.

Have you seen the Makita BO6040? Is that what you mean?

Re: The "Dream Polisher"
If we are dreaming, then I would take the FLEX 3401 and use a shrink ray to take it down to the size needed to use a 3" cutting or polishing pad. I think that would be a great option, forced rotation and a small pad, but I suppose you could also just get the PE-8.

3M Quick Release Adaptor, 3M adapter for double sided pads,
We used to have that quick-release system for DA (Edge) but then they sold it to 3M and now there are no pads available except maybe 8" for rotary/body shop.

Did anyone ever ask that question, as to why they went, when coming out with a small machine, with a rotary over a forced-rotation? I know a lot of us were disappointed, but I don't remember reading if anyone asked or if Flex volunteered something like "at this small diameter the benefits of oscillation diminish, and the drawbacks of direct-drive (rotary) also diminish, making the complication of a forced-rotation DA unnecessary".
Shoot that came out so well, I think if they had said that I might have bought one.
