Smallest backing plate for FLEX 3401?
I'm tired of having to reach for my rotary to do the "surgical" polishing. AKA using pads 3 inch and smaller for the small more detailed areas on certain vehicles. Does Flex offer anything that 3 inch pads will work with? It's so much of a hassle to get the rotary out, unwind the huge cord, put a backing plate on, etc.

Im guessing the flex's face is no smaller than 4 inches. Therefore 4 is as small as it gets. Can someone confirm this?

Simple solution, keep the rotary out. The smallest pad you can safely run on a 3401 would be 4 1/2" with the LC adapter plate system.

The smallest plate you can run on the 3401 is 4" which is part of the LC interchangeable plate system.
The smallest pad you can affix to that is a 4" pad such as the Hydro techs. Anything smaller and you will need to use the rotary or another DA such as the GG3.

Pick up a GG3 or an old PC 7424 and make a dedicated "Hernandez Polisher" that can spin 2", 3" and 4" pads
Either machine has plenty of power when using these smaller pads

Im thinking about getting a small compact, air-powered "de-burring" machine for this type of thing now (windshield pillars, small spoilers, vents, bumper crevices, etc)

I've hear HF has one for 25 that works well enough.
