Does everyone think the flat pads are better with a Flex (as the OP was asking), or better with any polisher?

I have a Flex 3401 and agree with everyone so far, Flat pads including Hydros are my fav.

I personally like the flats better than ccs on any type of polisher. My roomate likes his ccs pads better than the flats so it really is personal preferance.

Re: CCS vs. Flat pads
I would have to agree... I've not been impressed with the CCS pads and usually grab for my flat pads to use on the VRG. I do sometimes use a CCS finishing pad to apply wax with my G100 though.

+1 for the hydro. for the most part I use the HT cyan and/or tangerine pads big time and then move to a flat white and then a flat grey.

Flat
Cyan and Tangerine are both killer pads to work with my Flex and just about any compound and polish.
Great results every time!

Need to correct my statement. Flat, including HT for DA's and the Flex DA. Kompressor pads for rotary.

I have heard that the HydroTech pads work best on medium to harder paints, as they are supposedly too aggressive for super soft paints.
Any truth to that?

There is some truth to that, but it all depends on the method, such as pressure, product used, and the type of machine being utilized.
The beauty of the aggressive HT pad is that if you find it "too" aggressive, you could always turn the machine down a notch and/or use a less aggressive product. This is possible because the HT pads are capable of finishing fairly nicely.
I take it that most of the guys who prefer the flat pads are mainly referring to their preferences in the context of the dual action polisher. I personally like to use the CCS pads. They are more pleasant to work with on the rotary, less hopping and walking. For the DA, flat pads offer slightly better cuts because of the higher surface area, this trait is especially desirable especially when the KBM is used with ALOT of pressure where rotation is minimal. The reduced surface area of the CCS doesn't seem to be a problem with the rotary, mainly because the pad rotates at a constant speed as opposed to mainly wriggling in an orbit.
I think I possess almost all the pads AG has to offer. I still find myself use the CCS a lot.
