    Before I Use My Flex

Is there anything that I need to do to my new flex before I use it?

Not really but the early ones had a felt washer under the backing plate that needed to be lubed using house whole oil like 3in1 oil.I would do that even if it isn't needed.Just a couple of drops

Ditto on Wystangs sound advice. Although when we got ours the top handle snapped off, and it works pretty darn good. So we would add, snapped that handle off.
