I would still oil the felt ring. It can't hurt.

Every forum I've seen, everyone is stating they are just oiling it to be on the safe side.

Re: Before I buy the Flex.

Yeah, I ended up oiling it. It had some light oil already, but like you guys said, better safe then sorry.

I still haven't used it yet. Maybe this week with "no rain" I'll get a chance.

Question. I have a few spider web scratches, that aren't noticeable unless you look really closely. Should I start out with the Wolfgang swirl Remover 3.0 & white pad instead of the orange pad?

Also, is the flex pretty safe for curves on a fender?

Re: Before I buy the Flex.

I've already had a PC by the time the Flex came out.
I decided to buy the Flex, and it has been a great decision that has paid big dividends for me.
    It's my work horse now.
As for applying glazes and sealants, I use my PC for that, others do it by hand, I just like working the product into the finish for better results, but that' just me.
The flex could be a little cumbersome to use for sealant and glazes applications, but it's the best for paint corrections...

Re: Before I buy the Flex.

I'd buy a Griot's over the flex if you're looking for more correction power, but get the Flex if you're looking for a more predictable machine that gives fantastic results with one-hit.

I've used the Flex, the Griot's AND the PCXP and the machine with the most power and correction ability on flat panels is the Griot's. The flex is nipping on it's heals, but is still a step behind, regardless of how most people try to justify the $300 price tag on it.

It has less OPMs and RPMs than the Griot's and less power both on paper and in-hand. The Griot's does require a small bit of "dialing in" the right pad/product combo to get it perfect sometimes, but it literally is the closest you'll get to a rotary in correction ability with 5.5" pads. I know people will argue, but it's a fact.

Still a great machine though. Gratz on your purchase.
