You'd have the same issue right now if you were starting out (with the flex), the Edge adapter probably won't be available for another month or longer, leaving you the choice of waiting to use the flex until then or buying bads for a backing plate system. Also, with a hook and loop backing plate you can choose pads from any manufacturer, rather than being limited to what the edge makes (not a bid deal in my opinion as they have pretty much all the bases covered, but if you like to experiment with say, pads from Megs and pads from LCC etc. you need the BP.
Please don't take this as me being critical of the the Edge system. I think it's a great idea... the original question was, why would anyone use something else?

Tell her not to fight it but instead to relax the muscles while keeping hands in position and using leverage. Subconcious reaction of many people to powerful tools is to tighten up in "death grip" which only makes it worse.
that's some great advice. I should keep that in mind when Im trying to work harder panels.

Your whole body will be thankful to you, not just arms as that tightening puts a load on the muscles in the back. Leverage does wonders. That is another reason why I like bale handle and reasonably longer handle. It allows one to control the machine with very little effort (compared to others).
