anyone??..new flex 3401 backing plate is off center from the silver/ housing
i just received my flex3401.. new user ..
i went to change out to the flex oem 4 3/8" backplate and immediately notice that the plate is off center.. about 3 3-5 centimeters.. this is estimate..did not measure.. i partially see the felt ring on one side about 2 millimeters of the felt ring is exposed..
after seeing this.. i removed the 4 .xx plate and reinstalled the stock plate.. that plate is off center as well.. same off center location as the 4 .xx" plate.
yes, both plates are seated correctly, i had to adjust the spindle to ensure the plate seated correctly.
is this normal or a defective unit..
doesn't seem right.. especially with part of the felt ring exposed??
anyone .. ?

It will be off center because of the 8mm throw.

okay.. i actually just measured the housing to the back plate bolt center
the housing (aluminum colored housing with the worm gear drive teeth etc. is 4 4/16" or 4 5/16" .. im using measuring tape.. not my digital caliper..
dead center of the back plate hole center, in the housing, is 2".. ...
is it safe of the 4 3/8 backing plate to have exposed felt. i guess when you place the pad.. the felt is not exposed to the spent product which may dust off..
