AG Customer Service is Awesome, but...

Every time I need to call into Autogeek customer service I am quickly greeted by a friendly staff member who is always very helpful. There is just one issue I notice nearly every time... I am rarely greeted with a name. AG is the only company I've ever called where the staff answers without giving their name. This may seem very minor but here is my reasoning:
    1. If the call is dropped or I need to call back for some reason it would be helpful to be able to connect with the person who I've been talking to and working with.
    2. I like being able to match a face to a name, and there's a list right here of the AG staff but if I don't get their name that makes it a little bit hard.
    3. If an issue were to arise (I doubt this would ever happen) between staff and a customer it would be useful to be able to report the staff member by name.
    4. When greeted with a name it makes the conversation a little more personal (people like that) and just gives the whole conversation a more friendly tone.

Again, not a big issue... just something I've noticed.

Maybe it's just my OCD getting to me

    Good point.

For 20+ years when I answer my cell phone to my customers I always say, Hi this is Mark speaking how may I help you. It's simple and appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback Ryan, let me try and explain...

Autogeek employees are not your average "run-of-the-mill" human beings that are conceived using "old fashion" methods, but rather a genetically engineered super species created in a laboratory. Therefor, we do not have common names like "Andy" or "Michelle." Instead, Bob..errr...our "creator" assigns us a part number.

With that being said, if we stated our "names" it would sound something like this when we pick up the call - "Thank you for calling Autogeek, this is C16896196-8496.268v2, how can I assist you?"

    .........just kidding

In all seriousness, that's great feedback.

That probably works for some people...

But: The car-guys I hang with are so hard core,
we only use parts numbers for communication.

In my office, when calling out, I always ask for the person's name that I am speaking with and jot it down. I then confirm by saying their name, and letting them know mine. It makes the call more personal. In closing, using their name with a thank you ends any call on a positive note.

I have worked professionally in the automobile business for 38 years as a tech, service advisor and warranty admin and asst service manager and yes you always say your mane when you answer the phone. That way they have a connection with you right off the bat. Also like someone else said if the call gets cut off you don't want to start the whole thing over again explaining.
