Rupes Repair
Just got back a Rupes Mini that went in for repair. The Mini is 4 years old with moderate to heavy use. They did a complete overhaul including brushes, bearings, armature, trigger and a few washers and springs..total bill $163.00, total credit $163.00, net coast to me, ZERO, except for the $85.00 paid up front which included shipping both ways. I am stoked.

Re: Rupes Repair
Why did they refund you? Did the $85 include some evaluation charge, in addition to the shipping? Or was that some sort of flat rate repair which is why they zeroed out the other charges? I've had that before with some electronics stuff, where you pay up front and they fix it for that fee or they just send it back if it's uneconomical to repair. I think that was mostly to avoid delay while you approved the repair charges.

Re: Rupes Repair
Seems like it was billed as a flat rate ($85) charge. The invoice showed the break down which totaled $163.00 and a credit of $163.00 which meant there was nothing due.
I guess Rupes considered the parts normal wear and tear and included the cost in the initial $85.00 (now $95.00) charge. Was thrilled to pay $85.00 for a completely rebuilt machine after
being used for four years.

Yeah, it sounds like it was a good deal...what was your complaint when you sent it in?

Wouldn't start.

Re: Rupes Repair
Had a similar situation with my flex few weeks back. Funny part is I started a thread asking for recommendations for a back up polisher, just in case the flex goes out. Sure enough the flex stops working on the next job.
4 year old flex and out of warranty. Shipped it to powerhouse tools (auth repair shop for flex). They fixed it at no extra charge, no even return shipping cost.

Re: Rupes Repair
Those are both great outcomes...didn't someone just have a repair horror story? DaveT from Texas?
