We're shooting TV commercials and how-to videos most of tomorrow and then packing up the Competition Ready Van to go to Orange Park to prepare a car for the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.

Driving up Thursday and then shooting TV all day Friday.

Driving back Friday night and then hosting Autogeek's Cars & Coffee on Saturday morning.

So as soon as I can get to it will be Monday but since you're an alumni student of my detailing class you're on the list.

As for changing your name... I'll make that change right now then it's time to call it a day and head home.

Seems like Stacey won`t be seeing much of you for the rest of this month with all that`s on your plate.

Have to leave on Thursday for Orange Park to shoot the Amelia Island episode for Competition Ready TV on Friday so I'm only in the office today and tomorrow and we're shooting new TV commercials all day in the Show Car Garage so I'm just about to go offline for most of today.

Also, I'd strongly recommend letting me change your current forum nickname to your real name or your real name and first initial for your last name.

It's the right thing to do since you represent a manufacturer that is also a vendor on the AG store.

It's also the best thing to do for your own interest to brand YOU because you are a great guy and a great detailer.

Why spend all your time branding propolishing when you could brand yourself.

See my article on branding here,

Brand Yourself, Brand your Forum Nickname and Brand your Business Name

My long time friend Nick Chapman is a good example of someone that took the advice and now he has a fairly well recognized name, his forum name use to be some type of "airplane reference", it was n737nc and I kept telling him no one would ever be able to remember it, recognize it or say it.

I won't take credit for convincing either of the below friends of mine to brand their real names but I do remember having conversations with them about it.

Kevin Brown started out as iamwaxman on the forums and now goes by Kevin Brown

And I don't remember that Renny ever used a forum nickname on the forums I've seen him posting to but he also goes by his real name and he too has a stellar reputation in the detailing world.

One thing I've learned for sure though is good branding has value in a good way and bad branding has value in a bad way... always try to brand in a good way...

People always throw the below saying around without much thought...

    Work smarter not harder

In my experience of posting to the Internet world for 22 years now, longer than most people I can name, I have never found a down side to using my real name instead of a forum nickname.

    FWIW

Hey Mike how are you doing, that's a great idea to change your user name to your real name . Could you change my user name to RinardoW, when you have time I know your busy. Thanks for picking me to join the team, I will see you Thursday. I'll check in with you all when I arrive, if you need my help in any way. Just let me know, I'm more then willing.

    Thanks Rinardo

Anyone that's attended one of my classes has used pretty much every tool in this industry and left here with the knowledge and confidence to tackle anything and that includes you!

    ***Update***

I've had an OVERWHELMING response from people to be a part of the Competition Ready Team for Detail Fest.

    IMPORTANT

Spaces for this team are limited. Alumni students of my 3-day class will get the first chance to be on the team.

I'll be finalize the team next Monday.

After I final finalize the members for the team I'll post the list here and also send an e-mail to everyone.

I will also send our producer, Ashely your e-mail as she, not I but she, will be sending you the "CALL SHEET".

The "Call Sheet" will have all the information about the shoot on Friday March 18th but here's the jist of it....

Dress Code: Black pants, no shorts. Black socks and black shoes. Your team shirt will be provided.

Start time: Start time will likely be around 9:00am but wait for the Call Sheet.

End time: End time will be approximately 5:00pm but wait for the Call Sheet.

There is no need to bring any tools, pads, products, aprons etc as you know we have all this here in our Autogeek's Show Car Garage.

That's it for now.... stay tuned to this thread and your e-mail in-box.

Could you please elaborate on the black pants. Dress, cargo, black jeans? Also on the shoes all black with white logo or completely black? Please disregard if this will all be described on the "Call Sheet".

KISS - Keep it Simple Simon

Black jeans are great. Black Dickies will work too....

I don't think slacks would be good to detail in...

As for shoes, black Nike Air Monarch's are what I wear. They are a casual type shoe perfect for garage work but look nice enough to wear with most pants.

For what it's worth... as a person that wears an artificial leg every day I'm pretty keen on shoes that offer great impact cushioning. I only wear Nike Air shoes and these black Monarch's are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.

    I order these through Zappos.com

Thanks for the info. I asked as I was hoping the answer I would get would not be slacks. I am with you on the shoes. I only wear Nike and NB as I need the proper cushion for my back. However looking thru my shoe selection all my black pairs have a white "Swoosh" (Nike Symbol). So shoe shopping I will go.

The swoosh won't be a problem.

They're not going to focus in on your shoes. The idea being to have a uniform appearance across team members.

Keep in mind now days you'll see people walking around in florescent green or pink shoes or rainbow colored shoes. Nothing wrong with this but if 8 people are all dressed the same and one person has florescent pink shoes it stand out.

    It's about uniformity of appearance.
