I've ALWAYS gotten the impression that Chip is truly a nice guy. Not some sort of 'uppity' know it all with a bad attitude man.

In my experience talking with him at his shop in Huntington Beach after hours and watching him talk to others in public he's just like you depicted.

He's always been incredibly nice to me. He talked to me once about letting me do all this wetsanding, cutting and buffing at one time and I was game. At the time I was working for Meguiar's though...

I ended up having a guy come to both my Detailing 101 and 102 classes to learn how to machine buff plus wetsand to work on his cars about a year later. He didn't last however as I met this guy in the last year and he's moved to Florida since then and no longer details cars.

I've also trained guys to work on Jay Leno's cars. The normal story is a guy shows up letting me he doesn't know how to machine buff high-end cars and now needs to know everything.

Ive' seen the cars in Jay Leno's garage and well lets just say he's more interested in the motors. No big deal as most people don't know the difference between a squirrel and as swirl. Chip knows. All the cars I've seen that he's built have a true show car finish, at least when he's done with them. Down the road though it's up to the car owners to figure out how to "touch" paint without messing it up.

My Daughter signed me up for the new season in hopes to finish one of my 57 Chevys that I have been working on and off for the last 20 years but I think they only take California cars.Oh well.

Chasing Classic Cars is one of my favourite car shows.
Mr. Carini seems to be a really nice man and, unfortunately, he seems to have a quite difficult personal life. Props to him for his great attitude!

Re: On the set of Overhaulin with Chip Foose at SEMA 2012

I met Chip and Chris several years back at Barrett-Jackson. He was there to sell a Hummer that he help build. They had to delay when it went across the block because he was late getting to the auction because he was with his son at his pinewood derby competition.

I asked Chris Jacobs if he was as down to earth as he seemed. He said even more so. I would have to agree seeing that he put his family before his job. Class act.
