Re: 2009 SEMA Show Recap by Dwayne

Here are my thoughts on the models, or lack thereof. No doubt they are nice to look at (and I think I may have been caught with a few myself). The models can certainly attract a crowd to a booth and not necessarily the crowd a business may be looking to meet at a trade show when the focus is on business growth.

I remember quite a few models from previous years but have no idea what products they were representing. On the other hand, there are products that I do remember well that had a fully clothed, educated representative that was there to promote a product or service. Of course I'm not saying that models cannot also be educated, but many people do lose site of that when the focus is on beauty and not on brains.

With the lack of models this year, I think the focus was on building business. As the country moves from recession to recovery, companies may tend to cater to the crowds and hire more models. Maybe that will be a sign of better economic times? If so, bring back the models!

New products from Mothers, Meguiars, Lexol and some more goodies will be coming soon, in time for Christmas. Of course forum members will be the first to see them.
