Re: Blast from the past! - New Car Touchless Acrylic Clearcoat Sealant
Yes. I almost bought it. Really glad I went Meguiar’s instead!
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

Continued...
Here's what I remember as I was detailing full time when this product came out.
The problem was adhesion. This means, having the average Joe Consumer be responsible to do the correct prep work and then apply it was too much to ask.
The result was this stuff ended up flaking-off. BUT - it wouldn't flake off 100%. Some areas would stick good while other areas the product flaked-off.
Now what is a person supposed to do?
I was called numerous times by people and asked if I could fix it and I didn't want the liability so I turned down the work. At the time I was mostly detailing cool cars anyways, I rarely detailed daily drivers.
I have this product in my Antique Wax Collection. It was given to me by a friend and mentor by the name of Dick Koth. Dick Koth was the first non-family person to work for the Meguiar's car wax company. He was a professional copywrite and I learned a lot about writing from Dick. He was also the Strategic Planner for Meguiar's. It was his job to look into the future and steer the company where the market would go. He was a good friend and myself and everyone that knew him misses him as he passed away a few years ago.
Anyway, that's the behind the scenes story as I remember it for this product and a little bit about a guy that probably came up with the idea for some of the product we all use today.

Don't recall that product, but I do remember Autofom sealant (Blue Corral). It was often pitched on TV commercials and had Fomblin-A (polymer) in it. One claim was that Fomblin was used to protect the heat tiles on the Space Shuttle.
I actually used it. It did provide good protection and beaded nicely as well. But it was a bear when it came to application ... high spots and smudging. I figured out the best method was to let it dry/haze, then do a first buff to remove the bulk, followed by a final buff with clean towel and a very light mist of water.

There's a reason this product's been dead for 20 years and NuFinish is still alive and going strong. NuFinish will be around long after all these CarPro and similar company's products are dead and buried. It's really a shame AG doesn't sell NuFinish
