    Antique Car Detailing Clay

    Antique Car Detailing Clay

I have a lot of cool and interesting stuff in my antique car wax collection. And the collection includes MORE than just car waxes. Here's an example of EARLY car detailing clay by Meguiar's.

I actually remember seeing this clay on display at our local auto parts store back in the early 1990s and that is when car detailing clay was first introduced to the U.S. market. No surprise that at least at the RETAIL level, Meguiar's was one of the first to introduce this new way of removing above surface bonded contaminants off paint and other smooth surfaces.

There is no date on the clay package on the left but I'm fairly confident it's older than the clay on the right, which is dated 1995, so for graphical reasons I put dates below both products. The clay on the left could be older.

    Just part of,

    Car Detailing History

I have some clay from 2003-04. I bet it’s not good to use any more.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

    That is cool, Mike.

Think that $2 coupon is still valid?

Ha ha... my guess is no...

The plastic packaging is turning yellow and getting brittle.

These to products are now 24 and 25 years old. Older than some on this forum. Older than many on the "Internet" have been detailing.

I at first thought this was some "New" Detailing Clay that hit the market, specifically designed for Antique Cars! LOL

You’re supposed to go back to the auto parts store and buy a large bottle of it as soon as you’re done claying 1 of your fenders. Lol.

Hey has anyone else tried the latest “new & improved” Meguiars Claybar Kit? It’s definitely not the same as it used to be. I’m surprised no ones really brought it up on this forum.. There’s also small differences in the packaging.

-It now comes with 3 individually sealed bars [60 grams each]
-still comes with a 16oz. bottle of Quik Detailer
    -1 Supreme Shine Microfiber
-No longer includes the little box to store your clay in.

Where is average Joe supposed to store his clay and keep it clean until next time? Just imagine how many average Joes toss it in a drawer and come back and re use it a year later.. I know, you’d have to be a real Bubba to do that, but I bet there’s people out there who do. Lol.

Luckily I save things like that and still have a box I can use.Antique Car Detailing Clay
