Dialing in my Test Spot for the Saturday/Sunday Boat Detailing Class.

This is for the 21' Trophy - probably the WORST condition boat we've ever used for a class.

This is the new SCANGRIP Colormatch light - lighting up the side of the hull

    That's ugly....

    Final Results

This is going to be a great class and the rest of the boat will look exactly like my Test Spot.

Here's the results from my Test Spot on the 28' Rinker

    Before

Note the ghosting effect caused by the vinyl graphics. In my experience, you cannot remove the ghosting effect 100% but you can get it good enough that you don't see it without these high powered lights I'm using to light up the side of the hull.

    After
The ghosting is removed about 95% and this is after 4 separate sanding steps.

    Hey Mike,

Man thatís beat up like Kiwis beat up boats. An educated guess & Iíd say on average 85% of all trailered boats here in NZ are in this condition. We seem to be a reactive nation more so than proactive.

Thatís a superb canvas for your class to learn/work on Mike, & although I donít do a lot of boats but I would love to be a part of this class sometime. Thoroughly enjoy reading your How To Detail Boats book & pick up more tips & tricks every time I read it. Certainly changed my approach when detailing boats.

Iím digging the test spot . . . Exciting.

Enjoy the class everyone, I look forward to the pictures of progress & of course the finished results.

Boats are here for Boat Detailing Class at Autogeek!

Mike, I'm really looking forward to the class this weekend. I assume you wet sanded this boat with a couple of different grits, then possibly used Marine 31 captains one step compound and polish with a wool pad. Is this correct?

I'll share the process with everyone in the class but you're close.
