I'll be taking a lot more pictures. I plan on doing a 50/50 shot on the stern of the boat.

Re: Upcoming Sea Ray 340 Correction

I have experience detailing boat exteriors and interiors, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience or insight in detailing engine compartments in boats this size. I was thinking of using diluted APC and a brush to clean everything, and letting it drain out of the bottom from a drain I opened. I would make sure not to get the apc on any electrical equipment.

Re: Upcoming Sea Ray 340 Correction

So I've been pretty behind with the boat and haven't been able to start yet.
I planned on doing some routine maintenance before starting and as it is with boats, the routine maintenance turned into some major repair work.
The generator won't start so I went in to see what was wrong with it. It only has 9 hours on it right now. 9 hours on a 2001. The break in time is 10 hours so it's not even broken in. The carb ended up being pretty fouled so I went ahead and rebuilt it.
The exhaust manifolds on each engine, the exhaust riser, and the raw water intake pumps also need to be replaced which I'm in the process of right now. I should be finished next week and starting on the outside detail.

Re: Upcoming Sea Ray 340 Correction

Well It's been awhile since I've given an update.

Seems like it was one thing after another that needed to be fixed or replaced. Instead of being out on the water this summer I've sunk about 15k into it to get it ready.

-After finally getting the boat in dry dock I was able to start restoring the finish. I wet sanded above the rub rail where the oxidation was the worst. On the hull I just used the Marine 31 Heavy cut. After only using the Marine 31 Heavy cut I was left with a pretty nice finish.
Here's a picture of the hull after only the Heavy cut.

-I edited in the red line to show the split from before the compounding and after.

After the final polish, sealant, and wax I'll upload all of the before and after pictures. I've done the interior, canvas, and vinyl already.

-Here's a 50/50 shot of the stainless spotlight. It was cleaned and then I used Collinite 850 Metal wax. Easy to use and works well.

More photos and the full writeup soon!
