    pad recommendation please

in my first post here, I stated I have my mind pretty well set on the edge 2000 circular polisher kit. I don't run a business or anything like that, just some pads that work well and don't require a backing plate. Any other pad system that doesn't use a backing plate, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance -Mike-

I think EDGE has the patent on the backing plate-less pad design. I think that is the only one out there. I like the 6" edge pads for rotary because they are a little easier to control, but that is user prefrence. When I stick my 8" pads on there, they tend to want to pull a little more than the 6". But I can't avoid the 8" b/c that is what my wool pads are. However, that is my opinion, you can't go wrong with either size.

i've heard wool pads "feel" better because they don't pull as much as foam pads, that true? -Mike-

They don't pull as much, but they also create less heat and cut more faster, which is their main appeal.

Mike, you mention a Makita. What model is it? I just ordered my first real buffer and went with the Makita 6040 because it is a dual purpose machine and I like Makita. Any opinions on it?
