I have both and with end cap/cloth filter removed (ok'ed by Metro), the output is about the same.

Re: Metro MasterBlaster 8hp vs Leaf Blower

    Dear Friends

I enjoyed this thread because I have a Master Blaster on a UPS truck somewhere that's supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

I'm a penny-pincher who takes care of only two cars—an Odyssey and a Lexus ES300—but I see some advantages that make the Blaster worth its price.

    1. Physical exertion. Blowing is easier than wiping.
    2. Time savings.
    3. Use fewer microfiber towels, which leads to less detergent and electricity to run the washer and dryer, not to mention having to stock fewer of them.
    4. Lower motivational threshold for me to decide to wash our vehicles since it requires less time and effort

If the Blaster is as well-built as it looks, it should serve my family for at least a couple of decades. That should add up to a lot of time and energy saved from drying vehicles.

Now that I'm over the Master Blaster hurdle, it's time to decide which pressure washer to ask for as a Christmas present. There's the well-reviewed US$279 electric, 2000-psi Karcher 5.740, and there's the Honda-powered Homelite 2700-psi washer for US$300 at Sam's. The Homelite has a two-year warranty on the engine and the pump, but maybe a gas engine would be overkill for my simple needs. I want to use a foam cannon with whatever pressure washer I receive.

    Pressure Washer

    Dear atoy

Kranzles are out of my price range.

Unless that's what it takes to take the work out of washing our cars, in which case I'd have to save up for one.

I'm using an old Karcher that my father-in-law bought as a refurbished model from Big Lots. He said he's had it for at least fifteen years and has torn it down to fix it about a dozen times. It's a 1400-psi model. It leaks a little but it works. It's a red hand-carry unit, and I don't think Autogeek carries an adapter to make it work with the Foam Cannon HP.

I bought this one from Home Depot last week and returned it because the plastic bracket that held the electrical cord was torn almost off. It was built as cheaply as it cost, which happens more often than not. It was quiet, though, and only made noise when its trigger was pulled.

I'd like to stay under US$300 unless there's a solid reason for me to spend more.

I'd spring for a Kranzle if I had the loot.

    Re: Pressure Washer

    Dear atoy

Have you ever tried a Black Max pressure washer?

Right now I can't decide between the electric 2000-psi Karcher that Mark recommends, which costs $279, or the 2700-psi Honda-powered Black Max, which costs $300. The Black Max has a brass pump head and a two-year warranty, whereas the Karcher has just a one-year warranty. The Black Max is a 2.3-gpm washer, and the Karcher is a 1.4-gpm model.

This might be an easy question for someone who has experience with pressure washers, but it stumps me.

The Black Max is far more powerful, but I don't need all that power. I want excellent build quality.

For me, I would choose the Karcher because i don't like gas powerd PW but the Black Max looks very well built

    Dear atoy

    Thanks for responding.

I like the Karcher, too. Electric probably is the way to go since in my case we're talking about a thirty-minutes-per-week tool.
