There are at least 3 versions IMO

    1) Didn't have a removable BP

    2) On speed 6, sounded like it was going to orbit into space at any moment

    3) A milder version of #2. On speed 6 the noise and vibration is much less then there is with #2.
Having said that. Its next to impossible to stop the BP from spinning on 6, so I guess all is good!

I'm guessing that I have the 2nd generation and that the 3rd gen is the one that Mark returned twice?

I think your guess is right

I'm still waiting to hear what Mark has to say. Unless my memory has gone out, it seems he had to replace his earlier this year and didn't think the second unit was as powerful?

I may be wrong, but usually not

I got mine in July and it has the craziness on the speed 6... maybe the 3rd version was out somewhere this semester...

Right, he felt that it had lost power in comparison to I assume gen 2 and returned it. He is now using the Meg and eventually he will have issues with the cord

I bet they did power them down a little. Mine will eat pads at speed 6. It is a monster. I bet they got tired of replacing pads.

Flash, you must not be getting the right tech people. I used to ask for Dustin. Not sure he is still there. I have not had a tech problem in a long time (once I turned my speed down to 5 and quit smoking pads.)

Thats what I thought he said. Its Mark who actually got me a little paranoid anticipating this new units arrival

Sure would be nice to hear what his opinion is.....YO, Mark?

To be honest, alot of times (if not most) I would run my old unit on 5, because something about 6 never felt right. Especially using the KBM

Having said all that, for some reason this unit reminds me of the go-karts you rent from one of those side of the road attractions. They always have a restrictor to keep you from being able to reach full throttle. I use to always reach back there and "open it up" before they started putting fiberglass bodies over them. When I was younger there was this older gentleman who would always give me the hairy eyeball when he'd see me in line

The first model didn't work, at least it wouldn't maintain pad rotation under pressure.

There are a lot of oribtal wood sandiners on the market and for the most part only the Porter Cable and the tools modeled after the PC will actually rotate and occillate foam pads under pressure.
