Just came out of the garage after i had to do paint correction on my wifys Volvo, had a dint in the hood, i had sanded, painted and sanded again. have waited 3 weeks before i would touch it with anything (exept washing) had some sanded areas (2000 grit) i had to correct and therfore i had to use the rotary, i tryed with "Cyclo" and medium pads and MG #82 first, no good, after that i used the rotary and 8000 pad with MG #85, this gave some bether result, but not good enough, Switchd to 7000 pad and MG #85, boy oh boy, this is serious cutting power, the sanded area was gone in some sec and only my sh¤¤y painting skills was left.. But sanding marks.........gone . Went to the 8000 pads again (new one) and polished the area with the MG #82, and it was good as new (exept painting skill bla bla bla) puting on some MG #21 and im done. Ill see if i can take some pics, but my camera just had a tripp to the floor and looks kinda
    shabby.

    Its alive....

Never mind the painting, the whole hood is getting a new coat of paint.

But this is Sparkies post regarding pads, and this is geting kinda OT,

Back to pads again, i do have the megs, but i may think that the waffler/wave is a good choice, the "flat" pads can sometimes try to travle away from where they should be, and the waffler/wave seems to be a litle more steady to use.

And start with the 6.5 pads, i have not tryed the large ones but the 6.5 pads looks easyer to handle

I use the 8" edge pads on the Hitachi and have no trouble controlling the machine. But, I only use the rotary on large, flat areas when really needed. So, I don't currently have a need to get into tighter areas. If I begin using the rotary more often, and in tighter areas, I'll probably just put a backing plate on it and use my existing smaller LC, Propel & Sonus pads that I'm using for the PC. I just don't want to go with the edge 2000 pads right now for my PC as I have so many perfectly good velcro pads.
