Question Help me with LC Pads!

    Ok....
In the market for new pads (for the PC) and come to the conclusion I want to switch from the Edge 2k kit to something different. From all of the feedback, I think I will switch to LC. I will be purchasing the 4 inch pads, along with the 3.5 inch backing plate. Also, the 6.5 inch pads and backing plate.

So here are my 2 questions

    1. With the 6.5 inch pads, what backing plate? 6inch or 5 inch? I am thinking 6, but I have only used Edge 2k pads......so I am not sure.

    2. Pads.....do I really need the Blue Finessing Pad? I RARELY apply wax with a machine. I always apply my LSP by hand. So can I do without it?

Thanks for helping me spend more money!

I use the 5 inch backing plate with the 6.5 LC pads. I find the blue and grey pads are interchangable and I use them only for final polishing, and jeweling the surface after a more abrasive polish/pad combo.

With the 6.5 pads I believe you need the 5" backing plate. As for the finessing pad I don't think you need it.

    Tex,
i've had both pads from LC. The ones i like are the 7" .5" with my PC also centering the pads are breeze because the pad sits in you BP along with some very durable velcro. Budman also uses these same pads and he suggest i give them a try,btw i did have to go with the bigger counter weight.

So I guess I should ask other questions...LOL

    6.5 or 7.5 inch pads?

Also, with the 6.5 inch pads, I see pics on the AG store, using a 6 inch plate vs. the 5 inch as recomended. Is there a difference in performance, or is it user preference?

I think I am making this harder than it needs to be.....LOL

Just out of curiosity, why are you switching from the Edge 2K pads? Any problems or dis-satisfaction with them?

I had a 5" and bought a 6".. I like the 6" better, to me seems perfect with the 6.5" pads and I think it's easier to center the pads with the larger BP. You do have to be more careful if buffing with the edge of the pad. Also grabbed the 6" counterweight, it's seems a little smoother now...

I vote for the 7.5 in. pads and the six inch backing plate.

Easy to center, good control with the rotary, durable, easy, and maintenance is easy. Just drop it in the washer and dry in the dryer.

I do agree that it is nice to have the 4 in. pads for more defect correction if you are using a PC.

I am in the market for some new pads as well. Let me know which one you end of up going with (send the link) as sometimes I get a little confused getting around this website.

I currently have the Wolfgang 5.5" orange, 6.5" white nad 6.5" gray pads. Is Wolgang the same as LC???
