Re: Rinseless wash sponges
You guys would be absolutely horrified if you saw how I wash our cars.
I use a Big Red Sponge for a well kept, or new vehicle. I use the cheap blue Lake Country sponge on my old P.O.S., a neglected, or car that's in for polishing.
I use one bucket, just like they do in the videos. I rarely pre-treat. I just go at it carefully and methodically. No marring issues whatsoever.
I use TRC Eagle Edgeless towels for the initial wipe, and their red "car wash" towels for the final wipe.

Re: Rinseless wash sponges
Depending on car. on most I'm good with 2. I looked into everything from a new point of view. I read and saw many threads/Videos. I came to my own conclusion that the pads should fit the bill. And they did allot better than I was hoping! There like a dirt magnet when I just do 1 pass per side. Then I just do the whole wash board by D.Guard and plunge. But also rub my fingers through them like washing your hair. I don't like washing them in machine every time so I soak in dish soap and rinse well.

Re: Rinseless wash sponges
I'm a huge fan of the BRS & UBS and do rinseless nearly 100% of the time -- not just my own vehicles, either.
The way I see it is with a rinseless wash, the drying towel is a very important part of the process. The solution is doing exactly as you described -- it will encapsulate the remaining soil on the surface so that when you remove the remaining wash solution, you are also removing the last bits of dirt. But this is why a good towel is so important for a rinseless. I like to use TRC Gauntlets or Griot's PFM towels, and usually I use two of the smaller 16"x20" (Gauntlet) or 16"x16" (PFM). I also wash the towels after every use.
When using the sponges and a soapy rinseless wash like N914, Feynlab Pure, or ADG Fuzion, I will use a rinse bucket with a capful of the solution in it, and dirt lock guards in both buckets. These solutions don't separate out the dirt and don't have the ability to drop the soil out to the bottom.
When using ONR, Absolute, or ADG Wipeout I will generally just use one bucket unless the vehicle is extra dirty.
The key to these is doing a thorough pre-soak as mentioned. I've even built myself a beer keg pressure sprayer with a pressure washer gun to use for my rinseless wash duties, this has enough pressure to easily wash a large and dirty vehicle with just a few gallons of H2O.

Re: Rinseless wash sponges
Another note with sponges is product consumption. For MF I use 2 gallons of mix so about an ounce of product.
For sponges I feel I need at least 3.5 gallons in wash bucket.
I also use solution in rinse bucket as I feel if you rinse in water and wring out there still will be a minute amount of water left in the sponge which will dilute it.
For this it’s just 1oz in the bucket.
So for a sponge wash, until I feel safe doing a 1 bucket I use almost 3oz to 1oz.
I may just try a water rinse bucket and 2.5oz in wash.
Keep in mind tho cost is offset by less towel washing and MF detergents are close in price on cost and you use more MF wash in wash process…

Hey Crack, I assume that MB isn't washes too much, damn that's alot of dirt!
I see nothing wrong with your method at all, pre-treating is key and a good amount of water in the rinse bucket is key. That dirt is staying down, my newer, upgraded grit guard helps me wash with confidence

I'd like to add that using the grit guard in BOTH will help you sleep well at night and when using N914 add an extra ounce of solution in the mix, it doesn't hurt, it never does (unless your using Feynlab, in that case follow the directions, stuff is STRONG)

Cut the legs on the grit guard so it sits lower. One bucket is safe for any sponge. I only use one sponge.
